Staying Vigilant: Addressing Bullying as the School Year Unfolds

Hello SymplyNerdie Readers

Well, the Autum is welcome, with colorful leaves and if you had a wonderful break during the summer, that was great. Now that school has commenced for millions of children across this country, a few good weeks in already, I hope you are being vigilant. Yes, something we know for sure and that is Bullying never takes a break, bullying year-round. It is my hope that parents are keeping a keen eye on their children, any changes in their behavior as they prepare for the school day.  We can never be too unassuming, I recently visited a high school, it was at the start of the day, the kids from what I saw, most of the kids walked into school with other kids. Very few kids came in by themselves or they quickly joined their friends once they entered. From a glance, it looked like a perfect school setting. I would have loved to spend the day or got to shadow a few kids as they went about their day. Maybe even asked a few questions regarding bullying in their school environment. When I think of this school, I try to imagine what other schools are like on a typical day. How do they address the topic of bullying and what tools do they have at hand to handle bullying? Let me know how the school year is going be it grade school, middle school or High School.
